Still equipment, commonly known as water still equipment, is designed to produce highly purified water-for-injection (WFI) for specific applications. Still equipment is prevalent in industries such as pharmaceuticals. Stills use heat to distill or boil water and turn it into water vapor. As the water is transformed from a liquid to a gaseous state, the water leaves behind many of the impurities that are naturally occurring in water and that are difficult to remove through the use of filtration alone. Still equipment then cools or condenses the water vapor from a gaseous state to a liquid state for use as purified water.
